Over time the layer of gold plated or coloured plating of your jewellery may wear off.

Make your jewellery and its plating last longer by removing it while swimming, showering, exercising, washing your hands, or applying any products such as perfumes, lotions, or hair products, exposure to heat. Over-exposure to these can lead to tarnishing.

Here are tips on how to reduce normal wear and tear, and allow you to get the best out of your jewellery pieces.

• Put jewellery on after applying makeup, perfume, and hair products.

• Let skincare products set in before wearing jewellery.

• Always remove jewellery when engaging in activities that risk impact or exposure to chemicals or heat such as sports or housework.

• Store your jewellery in a dry place inside a soft pouch or cloth to avoid scratches.

• Avoid swimming or bathing while wearing gold jewellery, and remove rings when washing your hands.

• To keep your jewellery clean, wipe it lightly with a soft cloth. Do not use jewellery cleaner or chemical cleaner, vigorous scrubbing will take off the layer of plating.
